Legacy Music Studios International: a multi-genre record label built on family musicianship

Timeless music, built to last.

Legacy Music Studios International is a multi-genre record label founded in 2024 by Eli Ace and Barry L. Wingard, Ph.D. As of 25 August 2026 the label had 145 releases and more than 2,400 tracks submitted for worldwide distribution, spread across 14 genres and 25 artist projects, 18 of them public Legacy imprints. The catalog reaches listeners on Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, YouTube Music, Deezer, Tidal and Pandora. Four Presidential Portraits oratorios are published, each written as a 17-movement concert work.

The house rule is simple. The musicianship leads and the tools follow. Barry writes and directs the concert works, Eli produces and handles the technology side, and every release is checked by a person before it ships. You can read the longer version on our Our Story page.

Seventy five years of family playing sits behind all of it. Instruments were passed down, parts were learned by ear at the kitchen table, and singing in church was practice as much as worship. That is the standard the studio measures a finished take against, and it is why a record is held back when something in it does not sit right.

The catalog is deliberately wide rather than deep in one lane. A children's record, a swing session, a hymn arrangement and a cinematic cue can all come out of the same month, because the founders write in all of those idioms and see no reason to pick one. Each imprint keeps its own sound so a listener knows what they are getting before the first bar.

What the label does

The Presidential Portraits Collection

Barry L. Wingard, Ph.D. writes each portrait as a 17-movement oratorio in two acts, released under the Legacy Oratorio imprint. Four are published so far: George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, John F. Kennedy and Ronald Reagan. Each page carries the full program, the movement notes, the lyrics and a letter to the audience.

Published portraits

  1. George Washington, portrait I
  2. Abraham Lincoln, portrait II
  3. John F. Kennedy, portrait III
  4. Ronald Reagan, portrait IV

Who runs it

Barry L. Wingard, Ph.D., co-founder and creative director

Barry is a composer, painter and devotional author. He is classically trained as a vocalist, has spent more than 50 years in fine art, and writes the oratorio texts and program notes himself.

Eli Ace, co-founder and producer

Eli is a working musician who came up through a family of players. He handles production, distribution and the technology the studio uses, and he writes and records under his own name as well. More of his work is at eliace.ai/ecosystem.

How a Legacy release is made

  1. Writing. The lyric and the melody come first, and they have to stand up on their own.
  2. Production. Recording, mixing and mastering, with a person making every judgment call.
  3. Review. A listen-through for loops, silence and anything that sounds wrong before the file leaves the building.
  4. Release. Metadata, cover art and credits go out together, then the track is checked on the platforms.

Where to hear the music

Questions people ask

How large is the catalog?

145 releases and more than 2,400 tracks were in worldwide distribution as of 25 August 2026, verified against the label's distribution dashboard rather than estimated.

What is an oratorio portrait?

A 17-movement concert work in two acts on the virtues of one American president, with a program note and a reader question for every movement.

Where can I read the label's writing?

The Gold Standard Journal carries them, and the same items are in the RSS feed.

Barry writes an executive brief most weeks on what is happening in the trade: court rulings on authorship, chart eligibility rules, streaming fraud suits, licensing deals. The briefs are plain reading for working artists rather than trade-press summary, and they are the clearest picture of how this label thinks about the business it is in.
